Child's own blood may help heal rare bladder defect after surgery
NCT ID NCT07294612
Summary
This study tested whether a material made from a patient's own blood, called platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), could help reduce complications after surgery for a rare birth defect where the bladder forms outside the body. Twenty boys undergoing their first repair surgery were randomly assigned to receive either the standard surgery or the standard surgery plus the PRF material. The main goal was to see if the PRF group had fewer problems like abnormal openings (fistulas) or wound breakdown after the operation.
