Heel pain mystery: is your brain making it worse?

NCT ID NCT07640620

First seen Jun 15, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether changes in how the nervous system processes pain (called central sensitization) play a role in plantar fasciitis, a common cause of heel pain. Researchers will measure pain sensitivity, psychological factors like anxiety, and ultrasound images of the foot in 128 adults with heel pain. The goal is to better understand the condition, not to test a new treatment.
