Scientists test veggie power for aging muscles

NCT ID NCT06172725

Summary

This study tested whether a high-protein vegetarian diet, combined with strength training, is as effective as a high-protein meat-based diet for helping healthy older adults maintain muscle mass. For 12 weeks, 110 participants aged 55 and over followed one of these diets while doing a supervised exercise program. Researchers measured changes in their protein intake and muscle mass to see which approach worked better.
