First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests a program called Planning Together for pregnant women and their partners. The program teaches couples about birth control options and how to communicate about family planning. Researchers want to see if it is feasible and acceptable for economically marginalized families, with the goal of preventing short interpregnancy intervals that can harm maternal and infant health.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Joint contraceptive and couple communication education
What this could lead to
If successful, this program could help economically marginalized couples plan pregnancies better, reducing health risks from closely spaced births.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply widely. It focuses on feasibility, not yet on proving health outcomes.
