First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study looks at whether antibiotics are truly needed for mild diverticulitis. One hundred adults with uncomplicated diverticulitis will receive either antibiotics or a placebo for 10 days. Researchers will track recovery, side effects, and whether avoiding antibiotics is safe and effective. The goal is to see if a larger trial is possible and if antibiotics can be safely skipped for some patients.
