New approach aims to boost effectiveness of PKU drug

NCT ID NCT07477691

Summary

This study is testing whether adding a medication called methotrexate to the existing PKU treatment Palynziq can help control the condition better. It aims to see if methotrexate reduces the body's immune reaction to Palynziq, potentially making the treatment more tolerable and effective at lowering harmful phenylalanine levels. The study will include about 12 adults with PKU who either have not tried Palynziq or are already taking it but need better control.
