PKU carriers' hidden response to common amino acid revealed

This study looked at how people who carry the gene for PKU (but don't have the disease) handle a substance called phenylalanine, found in many foods. 56 adults, both carriers and non-carriers, took a phenylalanine drink and had their thinking, mood, blood pressure, and body chemistry measured. The goal was to understand if carriers have different responses that could affect their health.
