PKU Carriers' hidden phe response revealed in new study

NCT ID NCT06119048

First seen May 08, 2026 ยท Last updated May 08, 2026

Summary

This study looked at how people who carry the gene for PKU (but don't have the disease) and people who don't carry it respond to a dose of phenylalanine, a common amino acid. 56 adults took a phenylalanine drink, then had their thinking, mood, blood pressure, and levels of related substances measured. The goal was to understand differences in metabolism and health effects between carriers and non-carriers.
