New prosthetic foot mimics natural twist of human ankle
NCT ID NCT03532100
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested a motorized prosthetic foot that twists side-to-side as you walk, just like a real ankle does. 14 people with a below-knee amputation tried different twist settings while walking straight and in circles. The goal was to find the setting that feels best and puts the least strain on the leg. This is an early-stage research study, not a treatment or cure.
