Summary

This study tested whether adding pioglitazone to two common diabetes drugs (metformin and empagliflozin) helps lower blood sugar more effectively. About 600 adults with type 2 diabetes whose blood sugar was not well controlled took either pioglitazone or a placebo for several weeks. The main goal was to see if the extra drug improved HbA1c levels without causing serious side effects.
