Laser vs chemical: doctors test new ways to treat painful skin condition

NCT ID NCT06721169

Summary

This study aims to find out which of two less-invasive treatments works better for pilonidal sinus disease, a painful skin condition near the tailbone. Researchers will compare phenol (a chemical that destroys the sinus lining) with laser ablation (which uses heat to close the sinus tract). They will track 64 adult patients who haven't had treatment before, measuring pain, recovery time, and whether the condition comes back.
