Pig kidney transplant trial offers hope for patients out of options

NCT ID NCT06878560

Summary

This study is testing the safety and effectiveness of transplanting a kidney from a genetically modified pig into people with end-stage kidney disease. It is for patients who are either not eligible for a standard human kidney transplant or are on the waiting list but are unlikely to receive one in time. Researchers will monitor how well the transplanted kidney works and the patient's health for 24 weeks, followed by lifelong follow-up.
