New surgical tool may reduce bleeding and numbness in sinus surgery
NCT ID NCT07332585
First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study compared two surgical techniques for treating maxillary sinus disease: a newer method using a special ultrasonic device (piezosurgery) versus the traditional bone-cutting method. Forty adults with various sinus conditions were randomly assigned to one of the two approaches. The main goals were to measure blood loss during surgery and how long the procedure took, and to check for numbness in the cheek and upper teeth afterward.
