First seen Feb 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested a surgical method to widen narrow jawbone so dental implants can be placed. Twenty patients with a missing single tooth and a thin ridge (3-5 mm wide) took part. The procedure used a piezo-electric device to expand the bone and insert a graft. Results showed the technique successfully increased bone width and promoted new bone growth.
