Danish study to uncover hidden toll of ICU stays on survivors
NCT ID NCT07373561
First seen Jan 29, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study follows 800 adult ICU survivors in Denmark to see how many develop post-intensive care syndrome (PICS) — a condition that can cause physical, thinking, or emotional problems after a hospital stay. Researchers will check participants at 3, 6, and 12 months after leaving the ICU to track symptoms and identify who is most at risk. The goal is to better understand recovery patterns and improve future care for ICU survivors.
