New study checks if Long-Term IV catheters harm vein walls

NCT ID NCT07466472

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study will look at how a PICC line (a thin tube placed in a vein for long-term medicine) affects the vein wall. Researchers will measure vein thickness before and after the tube is removed in 80 adults who need this type of IV access. They will also test a special system that helps guide the tube to the right spot. The goal is to make PICC placement safer and understand any changes it causes to veins.
