New test may replace uncomfortable x-ray for kids with kidney reflux
NCT ID NCT07334821
First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study compares a newer, less invasive imaging test (PIC cystogram) with a standard X-ray test (VCUG) to diagnose vesicoureteral reflux (urine flowing backward into the kidneys) in children. About 60 children having endoscopic surgery will receive the PIC test, and results will be compared to their prior VCUG. The goal is to see if the PIC test can reliably detect reflux, potentially reducing the need for the more uncomfortable VCUG.
