Can a change in running form replace the knife for leg pain?

NCT ID NCT03584815

First seen Apr 23, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study compares two treatments for chronic exertional compartment syndrome (CECS), a condition causing pain in the lower leg during exercise. One treatment is physiotherapy that changes how you land when running; the other is surgery (fasciotomy). The goal is to see if physiotherapy works as well as surgery, which could reduce risks and costs. The study involves 72 adults aged 18-50 with symptoms in both legs for over 3 months.
