New study aims to keep patients breathing easy during shoulder surgery

NCT ID NCT07338630

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compares two types of nerve blocks used during shoulder surgery to see which one is less likely to temporarily paralyze the diaphragm, the main muscle for breathing. Sixty adults having shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard block or a combined block. The goal is to find a way to numb the shoulder while keeping breathing strong.
