New study aims to keep patients breathing easy during shoulder surgery
NCT ID NCT07338630
First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study compares two types of nerve blocks used during shoulder surgery to see which one is less likely to cause temporary diaphragm paralysis, which can make breathing harder. Sixty adults scheduled for shoulder surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either a standard interscalene block or a combined block with superior truncus. The main goal is to measure diaphragm movement and lung function before and after the block.
