New scanner aims to sharpen medical images while cutting radiation

NCT ID NCT04781296

Summary

This study tested a new type of CT scanner called a photon-counting detector. Researchers collected scan data from 30 male participants over age 50 to see if this technology could work in a real hospital setting. The main goals were to check the quality of the images it produced and to see if it could reduce the amount of radiation patients receive during a scan.
