New light therapy may save failing dental implants
NCT ID NCT07191522
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This study tests whether a special light treatment (photodynamic therapy) can better clean infected dental implants compared to standard scraping tools. About 40 adults with peri-implantitis will receive one of the two treatments, and researchers will check gum health, bone loss, and bacteria levels after 6 weeks. The goal is to control the infection and prevent implant loss, but ongoing care is still needed.
