NCT ID NCT06764342

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tested whether adding a special laser treatment (photodynamic therapy) to standard gum care and tongue scraping can reduce bad breath in 40 adults with gum disease and self-reported halitosis. Participants received all treatments within 24 hours, and bad breath was measured using a gas analyzer and a professional smell test. The goal was to see if the laser helps lower sulfur compounds that cause bad breath.
