First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a device that delivers mild electrical pulses to the back of the throat in ICU patients who had trouble swallowing after being on a breathing tube. The goal was to see if it could reduce the risk of food or liquid going into the lungs. The study planned to enroll 72 adults but was stopped early, so results are limited.
