New lens implant helps presbyopia patients ditch reading glasses
NCT ID NCT03499821
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a special lens implant (EVO+ Visian ICL) to improve near vision in 41 adults with presbyopia, an age-related condition that makes it hard to see up close. The lens is placed behind the iris and in front of the eye's natural lens. Six months after surgery, most eyes could see 20/40 or better at 40 cm without glasses. The results suggest this implant may be a helpful option for people who need reading glasses.
