First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This phase 3 trial tests the drug pexidartinib in 40 adults with tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT), a rare, non-cancerous growth in joints that causes pain and limits movement. The study focuses on people whose tumors are severe and cannot be helped by surgery. Researchers are measuring how many participants see their tumors shrink after 25 weeks of treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

pexidartinib (TURALIO)

What this could lead to

If successful, pexidartinib could offer a non-surgical treatment option for people with symptomatic TGCT that is difficult to operate on.

What could go wrong

This is a small, single-arm study with no placebo group, so results may be less reliable. Pexidartinib also has known risks, including liver toxicity.
