New PET scan method could improve prostate cancer treatment monitoring

NCT ID NCT04158245

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tested whether a special PET scan (18F-fluciclovine) can better show how prostate cancer responds to common treatments like abiraterone, enzalutamide, or docetaxel. Nine men with advanced prostate cancer that no longer responds to hormone therapy received one of these treatments. The PET scan was done before and 12 weeks after starting treatment to see if it could detect changes in the cancer better than standard CT or bone scans.
