Tumor size on PET scan predicts success of radioactive seed therapy

NCT ID NCT07208487

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looked at 41 patients with malignant tumors to see if a special PET/CT scan could predict how well radioactive seed implantation would work. The scan measures tumor activity and size. Researchers found that the total volume of active tumor (called MTV) was the best predictor: larger tumors were less likely to respond to treatment. This information can help doctors decide which patients might benefit most from this therapy.
