First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether pyridostigmine, a drug that stimulates nerves, can safely help the bowel start working again after colon or rectal surgery. About 50 adults who develop a temporary bowel slowdown (ileus) after surgery will receive either the drug or a placebo. The main goal is to see how quickly they pass gas and whether side effects occur.
