Could custom blood pressure goals save more hearts?
NCT ID NCT07345559
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
Cardiogenic shock is a life-threatening condition where the heart can't pump enough blood. This study tests whether setting a personalized blood pressure target based on central venous pressure improves survival and reduces organ damage compared to the standard fixed target. About 400 adults in cardiogenic shock will be randomly assigned to either personalized or standard blood pressure management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- personalized blood pressure management
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a new standard for managing blood pressure in cardiogenic shock, potentially reducing deaths and organ failure.
- What could go wrong
- This is a mid-sized trial testing a strategy, not a new drug. The benefit may be small or not apply to all patients, and the approach requires invasive monitoring.
