This study looked at how pain was managed in 111 newborns who had surgery to repair a cleft lip. Researchers compared the amount of opioid pain medicine used in babies who received a regional nerve block versus those who did not. The goal was to see if the nerve block reduced the need for strong painkillers after surgery.
