Dental study tests if more cleaning sessions fight gum disease better
NCT ID NCT07272980
Summary
This study compared two approaches for treating advanced gum disease: performing a full dental cleaning in one session versus spreading it over three sessions within a week. Researchers followed 48 patients with severe gum disease for 6 months to see if the number of cleaning sessions affected gum healing, inflammation levels, and harmful bacteria. The goal was to determine if splitting treatment into multiple visits provides better results for controlling this chronic condition.
