First seen May 28, 2026 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looks at whether treating gum disease (periodontitis) can reduce the body's overall stress burden, known as allostatic load. Researchers will measure inflammation, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels in 112 adults aged 30-50 with gum disease before and after a deep cleaning procedure. The goal is to understand if gum treatment has broader health benefits beyond the mouth.
