Ultrasound after birth: can it prevent leakage problems?
NCT ID NCT01320995
First seen May 22, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether using an ultrasound right after delivery to check for anal muscle tears in first-time mothers with vaginal tears could reduce the chance of accidental bowel leakage three months later. About 111 women were planned to take part, but the study was stopped early. The goal was to see if early detection helps prevent long-term incontinence.
