Gentle massage during labor may help prevent severe tearing
NCT ID NCT07374497
Summary
This study tested whether a gentle massage of the area between the vagina and anus (the perineum) during labor could help reduce injuries during childbirth. Researchers enrolled 202 women in active labor to receive either standard care or standard care plus this specific massage. The main goal was to see if the massage lowered the need for a surgical cut (episiotomy) and reduced the frequency and severity of natural tearing.
