Smoothing implants during surgery may tame stubborn gum infections

NCT ID NCT04052373

First seen May 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether smoothing the rough part of a dental implant during surgery helps treat peri-implantitis, a serious gum infection around implants. About 35 adults with at least two infected implants will receive both treatments (one implant gets smoothing, the other does not). The goal is to see which method better reduces bleeding and infection signs.
