New study tests laser and Air-Polishing to fight implant gum disease
NCT ID NCT03451981
First seen Dec 29, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested two extra cleaning methods—Er:YAG laser or erythritol air-polishing—alongside standard non-surgical treatment for peri-implantitis, a gum infection around dental implants. 47 adults with infected implants were treated to see if these add-ons improved pocket depth and bleeding. The goal was to better control the disease, not cure it, as ongoing management is typically needed.
