Promising combo trial for lymphoma halted early
NCT ID NCT03983668
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial tested a combination of two immune-boosting drugs—pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and CMP-001—in 14 adults with lymphomas that had come back or stopped responding to treatment. The goal was to find a safe dose that could shrink tumors. However, the study was terminated before completion, so we do not know if the combination works or is safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
pembrolizumab (Keytruda) and CMP-001 (an immune-stimulating drug)
What this could lead to
If it had worked, this combination might have offered a new treatment option for people with lymphomas that did not respond to standard therapy.
What could go wrong
The trial was terminated early with only 14 participants, so we have no clear evidence it works. Early-stage cancer trials often fail to show benefit or have unexpected side effects.
