Nerve density in endometriosis lesions may predict pain severity

NCT ID NCT07274956

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at tissue samples from 65 women who had surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis (a severe form of endometriosis). Researchers measured how many nerves were in the removed tissue and compared that to the women's reported pain levels. The goal was to see if more nerves in the tissue meant more pain. This was a minimal-risk study using existing samples and records, and the results could help doctors better understand and treat endometriosis pain in the future.
