Mud baths before exercise: a new hope for scoliosis pain?
NCT ID NCT07459400
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether applying natural medicinal mud (peloidotherapy) before specialized scoliosis exercises can reduce pain and improve quality of life in young adults aged 20-40 with mild to moderate scoliosis. Researchers will compare standard exercise alone to exercise plus mud therapy in 54 participants. The goal is to see if the mud helps people exercise more comfortably and stick with their treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
medicinal mud (peloidotherapy)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to reduce pain and help young adults with scoliosis stick with their exercise therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (54 people) testing an add-on therapy. The mud's effect may be small or no better than placebo, and results may not apply to everyone with scoliosis.
