First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times
Summary
This study tested whether peer specialists—people with serious mental illness who are trained to support others—can effectively lead cognitive-behavioral social skills training for veterans. 191 veterans took part in either peer-led training, standard social skills training, or usual care. The goal was to see if peer-led programs improve daily functioning, quality of life, and recovery. Results could expand access to proven mental health treatments.
