First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether cochlear implant programming and hearing tests can be done remotely for children aged 13 to 20. Fifteen participants will use a smartphone app and remote software to adjust their implant settings and complete speech recognition tasks. The goal is to see if remote care is as effective and satisfying as in-person visits.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Remote programming software and digital audio streaming via iOS app
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could make cochlear implant adjustments and hearing tests easier for kids by doing them remotely, reducing travel and clinic visits.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small early study with only 15 participants, so results may not apply to all children. Remote testing may not work as well as in-person for some kids.
