NCT ID NCT07542990
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether dexmedetomidine, a sedative drug, can lower the chance of delirium (confusion and agitation) in children who need a breathing machine in the intensive care unit. About 266 children, aged 1 month to 17 years, will be randomly assigned to receive either dexmedetomidine or the standard sedative midazolam. The main goal is to see if dexmedetomidine reduces the number of children who experience delirium during their ICU stay.
