Can an ultrasound scan predict breathing trouble in teens with chest deformities?
NCT ID NCT06392984
Summary
This study aimed to find an early warning sign for breathing problems in adolescents with pectus deformities, which are common chest wall abnormalities. Researchers used ultrasound to measure the thickness of the diaphragm, the main breathing muscle, in 61 teens who had no current breathing symptoms. The goal was to see if changes in the diaphragm could predict future respiratory dysfunction before standard tests show a problem.
