Nerve zapper aims to free patients from ventilators
NCT ID NCT05998018
Summary
This study tests whether a device that stimulates the breathing nerve can help patients who are stuck on mechanical ventilators breathe on their own again. It involves 420 adults who have been on a ventilator for at least 4 days and have already failed one attempt to remove it. Half will receive standard care plus the stimulation device, while the other half receives standard care alone, to see which helps patients get off the ventilator faster and more safely.
