New catheter technique aims to reduce infections for kidney patients
NCT ID NCT07465445
Summary
This study compares two surgical techniques for placing a tube (catheter) needed for a type of home dialysis called peritoneal dialysis. Researchers want to see if a newer method, where part of the tube is tucked under the skin for a while, leads to fewer infections and a longer-lasting catheter than the standard method. They are studying 60 adults with advanced kidney disease who are starting planned dialysis.
