Malawi tests new vaccine schedule to boost protection against deadly childhood pneumonia
NCT ID NCT04078997
Summary
This study tested if changing the schedule for a childhood pneumonia vaccine could provide better and longer-lasting protection. In Malawi, researchers compared the standard three-dose schedule (3+0) to a schedule with two early doses plus a later booster (2+1). They measured how well each schedule reduced the presence of vaccine-targeted bacteria in children's noses, which is key to preventing disease spread.
