Scientists investigate if a simple blood test can forecast fungal infection outcomes

NCT ID NCT07313527

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looks at whether PCR tests for Aspergillus fumigatus in blood or lung fluid can help doctors predict how well treatment is working in patients with a serious fungal lung infection called invasive aspergillosis. Researchers will track 100 adults who already tested positive for the fungus and see if changes in PCR levels over time relate to survival at 30 days. The goal is to learn if PCR monitoring can guide treatment decisions, not to test a new drug or cure.
