Eye-Opening study: PCOS drugs may change tear film and retina
NCT ID NCT07419776
First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 02, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study looked at how two common PCOS treatments (birth control pills and clomiphene citrate) affect the surface of the eye and tear film. Researchers compared 60 women with PCOS to 30 healthy women, then followed the PCOS groups for 6 months after starting treatment. The goal was to measure changes in tear quality, oil glands, and retinal blood vessels, not to treat any eye condition.
