Summary

This completed phase 3 trial tested whether a patient outreach program—regular phone calls every two weeks—could help people with advanced medullary thyroid cancer spend less time experiencing moderate-to-severe side effects from the drug vandetanib. The study enrolled 205 adults and compared those who received the outreach calls to those who did not. The goal was to see if early detection and management of side effects could improve the treatment experience.
