Dad's touch may boost newborn health in first hours of life

NCT ID NCT07302412

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks at whether gentle touch from fathers can help newborns at risk for low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) during their first six hours of life. About 98 babies will be split into two groups: one where fathers give 15 minutes of gentle touch every hour, and one with standard care only. Researchers will measure how well babies suck during feeding, their comfort level, and their blood sugar levels to see if paternal touch makes a difference.
